FAQs

The sooner, the better — especially if your wedding is during a busy season or on a weekend. Many couples book several months to over a year in advance. Once your date is reserved, that time is officially set aside for your wedding.

Your wedding date is reserved once your agreement is signed and your deposit is paid. Until both are completed, the date remains open for other inquiries.

Yes. Flexible payment plans are available. A deposit is required to secure your date, and the remaining balance can be divided into manageable payments leading up to the wedding. The final payment is not due until all of the images are delivered and you approve them.

NarBear Studios is based on the Central Coast of California and serves weddings throughout Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Fresno, San Jose, San Francisco, and everywhere in between.

Yes. Travel is available for weddings throughout California and beyond. Travel fees may apply depending on the location, distance, lodging needs, and timeline.

My style is timeless, polished, and intentional. I focus on real emotion, beautiful light, elegant portraits, meaningful details, and the quiet in-between moments that make your wedding feel personal.

Yes. I give natural direction throughout the day so you never feel awkward or left wondering what to do. The goal is to create images that feel polished, comfortable, and true to you.

Absolutely. Candid moments are a major part of the wedding story. I photograph reactions, laughter, hugs, quiet glances, emotional moments, and the natural energy of your day.

Yes. Formal family portraits are included. Before the wedding, we will create or review a family photo list so this part of the day stays organized, efficient, and stress-free.

A full shot list is not necessary for the entire day, but a family photo list is very helpful. I will naturally photograph the major wedding moments, details, candids, and portraits, but I always recommend listing specific family groupings and any unique must-have photos.

Yes. Pre-wedding planning support is included with select collections. We will review your timeline, lighting, portrait locations, family photo list, ceremony timing, reception events, and key details so the day feels organized.

Yes, when possible. A venue walkthrough helps identify the best locations for portraits, family photos, ceremony angles, reception details, lighting, and backup options.

That is completely fine. I will research the venue, review the layout, look at lighting, and arrive prepared. If possible, a venue walkthrough can also be scheduled before the wedding.

It depends on your wedding timeline. Four hours works well for elopements, courthouse weddings, and intimate ceremonies. Ten to twelve hours is ideal if you want the full story captured from getting ready through the reception or final send-off.

Four hours usually covers the ceremony, couple portraits, immediate family photos, wedding party portraits, detail images, and select candid moments depending on the timeline.

Ten to twelve hours gives the most complete coverage, including getting ready, details, first look, ceremony, family photos, couple portraits, reception details, speeches, dances, candid guest moments, dance floor coverage, and send-off moments.

Yes. Engagement sessions are available and included in select wedding collections. These sessions are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.

An engagement session helps you feel more confident before the wedding and gives us a chance to work together before the big day. The images are also perfect for save-the-dates, wedding websites, guest books, invitations, prints, and announcements.

Yes. Rehearsal dinner coverage is available as an add-on. It is a great way to capture speeches, family moments, hugs, laughter, and the more relaxed beginning of your wedding weekend.

Yes. Select collections include an assistant second shooter, and a professional second photographer upgrade may be available. A second photographer helps capture additional angles, candid moments, guest reactions, getting-ready coverage, and moments happening at the same time.

It depends on the wedding. A second photographer is especially helpful for larger weddings, separate getting-ready locations, large families, full ceremonies, multiple locations, and couples who want a fuller final gallery.

Yes, select collections may include a simple ceremony video recording. This is not a full cinematic wedding film, but it preserves the ceremony from beginning to end in a clean digital video file.

At this time, the ceremony video recording is a simple keepsake option, not a full cinematic videography package. Full videography may be added in the future or coordinated with a dedicated videographer.

Yes. Your gallery includes a curated selection of black and white images when the photo is strongest in monochrome. These images are edited for a timeless, emotional, and elegant look.

Yes. Select collections may include Polaroid-style instant photos taken throughout the day as nostalgic keepsakes. These may also be arranged into a custom collage image.

Yes. Select collections may include on-site bride and groom portraits with professional studio lighting and your choice of a white or black backdrop. This creates a polished, editorial-style portrait experience at your venue.

A guest portrait station may be available as an add-on. This creates elevated, studio-style portraits of your guests using professional lighting and a clean backdrop.

Image count depends on the length of coverage, timeline, number of events, and overall flow of the day. Some collections include a minimum number of delivered images, such as a minimum of 300 edited images.

No. I carefully curate the final gallery to remove duplicates, missed expressions, test shots, blurry images, and unnecessary filler. You receive the strongest final images that tell the complete story of your day.

Yes. Clients may purchase all original delivered images on a flash drive for $250. This gives you a physical backup of your final wedding gallery.

Generally, no. RAW files are unfinished image files and are not part of the final delivered product. Your final gallery includes professionally edited high-resolution JPEG images.

Your gallery includes professionally edited, high-resolution JPEG images delivered through a private online gallery. You can view, download, share, print, and preserve your images.

Yes. Each delivered image is edited for color, exposure, contrast, skin tones, cropping, and overall polish while keeping the look natural, timeless, and true to the day.

No generic batch processing is used as a replacement for careful editing. Every image is intentionally reviewed, curated, and refined so the final gallery feels consistent and polished.

You will receive 2–5 professionally edited sneak peek images within 24 hours of your wedding.

Final wedding galleries are typically delivered within 4–8 weeks, depending on coverage length, image volume, editing needs, and seasonal workload.

Out of respect for the privacy of my couples, their families, and their guests, I do not share full wedding galleries publicly or privately.

Yes. Sneak peek images are professionally edited and ready to share.

Yes. You receive personal usage rights to download, share, post, print, and preserve your final images.

Your final images are yours to enjoy, print, share, and preserve for personal use. NarBear Studios may use select images for portfolio, website, social media, or promotional use unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

Yes. Professional printed products may be available through your gallery or as part of a print credit. This may include framed prints, wall art, albums, gift prints, and keepsakes.

Yes. Custom wedding albums are available and included in select collections. Albums are professionally designed using a curated selection of your favorite images.

Yes. Parent albums are available as smaller companion albums for parents, grandparents, or close family members.

The Heirloom Collection includes everything in the Signature Collection, plus an engagement session, a premium customizable 12x12” wedding photo album, a personalized wooden keepsake box, and all original delivered images.

Yes. The Grand Gallery Photo Book is an oversized 28”x20” add-on designed to showcase your wedding images in a bold, elegant, gallery-style format.

Yes. Album customization options may include image selection, layout preferences, cover choices, personalization, and keepsake box options depending on the collection or add-on selected.

We will plan backup options ahead of time whenever possible. Rain does not ruin wedding photos. It simply changes the plan. Covered areas, indoor locations, umbrellas, venue interiors, and creative lighting can still create beautiful images.

Wedding days often run behind, and I do my best to adapt. If additional coverage is needed and I am available, extra time may be added at the current additional hourly rate.

Yes, honestly, I am already there and staying longer is not a big deal and wont cost extra. The most important thing is that you are happy and have a worry free day.

Yes. I am happy to coordinate with your planner or coordinator to help keep the photography timeline smooth and organized.

For longer wedding coverage, a vendor meal is appreciated and often required. It is best served when the couple eats so photography can resume when important reception events begin.

Yes, proof of insurance can be provided to venues if required.

I photograph traditional weddings, intimate weddings, elopements, courthouse weddings, outdoor weddings, coastal weddings, vineyard weddings, estate weddings, and creative celebrations of all sizes.

NarBear Studios is built around a personal, intentional approach. Wedding photography became personal for me after my own wedding photos turned out terribly, so I understand how much these images matter. My goal is to give couples the kind of wedding photos they dream about — polished, meaningful, carefully planned, and true to the day.

Proposal sessions include up to 2 hours of photography coverage and a minimum of 30 professionally edited images delivered through a private online gallery.

Yes. I can help with location ideas, timing, lighting, positioning, and the general flow so the proposal feels natural while still being captured beautifully.

We plan the location, timing, and positioning in advance. I can either photograph from a discreet distance or blend into the area depending on the location and setup.

The best location depends on your relationship, scenery preferences, privacy needs, and lighting. Beaches, overlooks, gardens, vineyards, parks, and meaningful personal locations all work well.

Golden hour is usually best — shortly after sunrise or before sunset. The light is softer, more flattering, and more romantic than harsh midday sun.

Yes. I can help choose a specific location and angle based on light, background, privacy, and the best place for the surprise moment.

That is always possible, but careful planning helps reduce the risk. I can appear to be photographing the scenery, another subject, or simply stay farther away until the proposal happens.

After the proposal, we usually take a short portrait session to capture the excitement, emotion, ring photos, and a few polished images of the two of you.

Proposal and engagement sessions last up to 2 hours.

Yes. Family and friends can be included after the proposal or hidden nearby for the surprise. We can plan how they enter the moment without disrupting the photos.

Yes. Ring photos are included and can be taken after the proposal.

Yes. Simple props can add a personal touch. Champagne, flowers, signs, blankets, candles, or picnic setups can work well depending on the location and rules.

Yes. Beach proposals are a great option, especially on the Central Coast and throughout coastal California.

Wear something that feels elevated but still comfortable. Neutral tones, soft colors, clean textures, and coordinated outfits usually photograph best. Avoid loud logos, neon colors, and overly busy patterns.

We can adjust timing, use a backup location, or reschedule when necessary. Some weather can still photograph beautifully, but safety and comfort matter.

Delivery timing depends on the session and season, but proposal and engagement galleries are typically delivered faster than full wedding galleries.

Yes. Your images are perfect for proposal announcements, save-the-dates, wedding websites, invitations, social media, and framed prints.

Yes. The goal is to document the real moment while also creating polished portraits afterward. The proposal itself should feel authentic, not overly staged.

Yes. Engagement sessions are perfect for couples who are already engaged and want relaxed, polished portraits together.

Family photo shoots are relaxed, guided sessions designed to capture genuine connection, natural moments, and timeless portraits of the people who matter most.

Family photo shoots last up to 2 hours.

Family sessions can take place outdoors, at the beach, in a park, at your home, or at another meaningful location. The best setting depends on the look and feel you want.

Yes. I provide direction throughout the session so everyone knows what to do. The goal is to keep the session comfortable, natural, and not overly stiff.

Yes. A good family gallery should include both classic portraits and candid interactions. I photograph walking, playing, laughing, hugging, and natural moments between family members.

Choose outfits that coordinate without being overly matching. Neutral tones, soft colors, earth tones, creams, denim, linen, and simple textures photograph well. Avoid neon colors, large logos, and busy patterns.

No. Coordinated usually looks better than identical. Choose a color palette and let each person wear something that fits within that palette.

Early morning or golden hour before sunset usually gives the best light. Midday sun can be harsh, especially outdoors.

Yes. Extended family can be included. Larger groups may require more organization and may affect how much time is available for individual groupings.

Yes. Grandparents are always welcome, and these portraits often become some of the most meaningful images from the session.

Yes, pets can be included as long as the location allows them. Bring a leash, treats, water, and someone who can help hold the pet when they are not in photos.

That is normal. Family sessions are designed to be flexible. We will keep things relaxed, take breaks when needed, and capture natural moments instead of forcing perfect smiles the entire time.

Bring snacks, water, wipes, comfortable shoes, and any small comfort item that helps them feel relaxed. Avoid messy snacks or anything that can stain clothing.

Yes, simple props are fine. Blankets, small toys, picnic items, flowers, or meaningful family items can work well. The best props are subtle and personal.

Image count depends on the session, family size, location, and package selected. Your final gallery will include a curated selection of professionally edited images.

Yes. Delivered images are professionally edited for color, exposure, contrast, skin tones, cropping, and overall polish.

Yes. Your final images may be downloaded, shared, and printed for personal use.

Yes. Family sessions are perfect for holiday cards, announcements, wall art, gifts, and updated family portraits.

Depending on timing and distance, multiple nearby locations may be possible during a 2-hour session. Keeping locations close together helps maximize photo time.

If weather makes the session difficult or unsafe, we can reschedule or choose a backup location.

Newborn-style sessions may be available depending on the type of shoot. Lifestyle family sessions with a newborn at home or outdoors are a good fit.

Yes. Maternity sessions can be photographed as a family session or as a standalone portrait session.

Yes. Senior portraits can be photographed in a similar session format with a focus on individual portraits, personality, and meaningful locations.

To book, choose a date, location, and session type. A deposit may be required to reserve the session date.

Reach out through the contact form with your date, location, session type, and any important details. I will confirm availability, answer questions, and send the next steps.

Yes. A deposit is required to reserve your date.

Payment options may vary, but common methods include online payment, card, bank transfer, or other approved payment methods.

Yes. Flexible payment plans are available for wedding collections and may be available for select sessions.

Rescheduling depends on availability, the reason for the change, and the terms of the agreement. Weather-related rescheduling for sessions is handled as reasonably as possible.

Yes. You are welcome to choose a location, or I can help recommend one based on light, scenery, accessibility, and the style you want.

Yes. I can provide simple outfit guidance to help your clothing photograph well and fit the overall look of the session.

Final images are delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download, favorite, and share your photos.

Yes. Professional print options may be available through your gallery or by request.

Yes. You may share your final images online for personal use.

The final edited images are delivered as finished work. Additional filters or heavy edits are not recommended because they can alter the intended color, skin tones, and overall quality of the images.

Every delivered image receives professional editing. Detailed retouching, advanced object removal, body reshaping, or extensive Photoshop work may be available for an additional fee depending on the request.

Yes. Images are backed up during the editing and delivery process. Clients are encouraged to download and safely store their final gallery as well.

Gallery availability may vary by package or agreement. It is always recommended to download and back up your images after delivery.

My approach is personal, polished, and intentional. I care about planning, lighting, real emotion, and creating images that feel meaningful long after the moment has passed. I want your photos to feel elegant today and still matter decades from now.

About NarBear Studios

Building the Future of Digital Memory

Hi, I’m Grant, the photographer behind NarBear Studios, based on the Central Coast of California and serving weddings throughout Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Fresno, San Jose, San Francisco, and everywhere in between.

I photograph weddings with a timeless, polished, and intentional approach — focused on real emotion, beautiful light, and the quiet in-between moments that often become the most meaningful.

The name NarBear Studios comes from my love of narwhals and bears — two very different creatures that somehow felt like the perfect fit for a photography brand that is polished, personal, and a little unexpected.

Wedding photography became personal for me after my own wedding photos turned out terribly. I know how disappointing it feels to look back on one of the most important days of your life and feel like the images didn’t capture the beauty, emotion, or meaning of the day.

For many couples, their wedding is the most important picture day of their lives. These are the images that will be shared with family, framed on walls, passed down, and looked back on for decades.

They deserve more than rushed snapshots, trendy editing, generic poses, or a hands-off approach. They deserve care, intention, and a photographer who truly understands how much these photos will matter.

My goal is simple: I want you to have the kind of wedding photos you dream about. I listen closely, plan carefully, and photograph with purpose so you feel taken care of from the first conversation to the final gallery.

At NarBear Studios, wedding photography is about more than beautiful pictures. It’s about giving you a relaxed experience, a gallery you’re proud to share, and memories that feel elegant today and meaningful for decades to come.
